Frequently Asked Questions

Benefits & Services

Q.

Are your current containers being welded or patched? And what is the business difference to you?

A.

If you can pull the welding rod off with a pair of pliers or dig it out with a screwdriver it is a low-grade patch, which means premature container failure and a place to promote bacterial growth. Other signs of substandard welds are visible lines between container and weld material, bubbles and foreign materials in the weld.

A durable quality weld is smooth and flush with the surrounding surface area, has no bubbles, pores or visible lines between weld and container and will out last a patch many times over. Why pay for a patch, which is temporary, when West Wind & Assocs. Inc. can actually repair the damage and you will only need to do it once.

Q.

What is the difference between Welding, Restoration and Fabrication services West Wind & Assoc. Inc. offers?

A.

(1.) Welding Services – plastic welding and our exclusive preventative maintenance program.

(2.) Restoration Services – Occasionally unbroken plastic bins/containers must be discarded simply because the USDA condemns them as uncleanable. West Wind & Assoc. Inc.’s sister company, WW Restoration, has developed a comprehensive program designed to restore those bins to a usable condition. This program can be implemented independently or in conjunction with our welding services.

(3.) Custom Fabrication – we can design and create custom components and plastic equipment to serve your needs and solve your problem. Put our engineering and plastics knowledge to work for you.

Q.

Does vendor equipment quality really make a difference to me (the customer)?

A.

It should, because use of portable welders and cheap welding guns deliver low-quality welds that result in radical quality differences to you, shortening the useable life of your property and forcing companies to pay for repairs repeatedly. It’s just not worth the hassle and expense - when we can make your job easier and help your facility reduce maintenance and equipment costs. Compare the cost of losing or spilling the contents a poorly repaired container versus the small investment of having it properly repaired the first time.

Q.

What is the cost/benefit analysis of contracting with West Wind & Assoc. Inc. versus trying to do this ourselves?

A.

Business advantages you gain by putting our expertise to work for you – no training expenses, no learning curve, no additional custom equipment to track down, purchase and have designed, no multiple supplier searches, no trial and error learning, no explanations to plant management that things didn’t work as planned. Statistically in-plant programs do not yield best results in either time management, or financially. In short, no hassle and your plant personnel can focus on what they do best – operating your facility. One supplier and multiple service solutions – the West Wind and Assoc. Inc. difference.
